Motomu Ishigaki is a cinematographer based in Tokyo, Japan.
Born and raised in Tokyo, he developed an early interest in visual storytelling after discovering the photography of Robert Capa. Inspired by the power of images, he moved to New York City in 2003 to pursue filmmaking. After earning a B.A. in Film Production from Brooklyn College, he began working on a wide range of narrative features and documentaries, including Ryuichi Sakamoto: CODA, which premiered as an official selection of the 74th Venice International Film Festival.
His directorial debut, Memoir, which he also shot, was officially selected for both the Miami Fashion Film Festival and the La Jolla Fashion Film Festival, and was nominated for the International Fashion Film Award. His cinematography credits include the feature film Neko to Jiichan (2019), released nationwide in Japan, the Netflix original documentary It Takes a Lunatic, which premiered at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival, and the feature film almost people (2023). In 2026, he served as the cinematographer for the Amazon Original drama series Hanzaisha: Criminal.
In addition to his work as a cinematographer, Ishigaki has worked as a camera operator on several productions, including Ryuichi Sakamoto | Opus (2023), Episode 5 of Modern Love Tokyo, directed by Kiyoshi Kurosawa (2022), and Season 2 of Pachinko for Apple TV+.

1984年東京生まれ。2003年渡米。ニューヨーク市立ブルックリン大学映画学部卒業後、就労ビザを取得。撮影部と照明部としてフリーランスを開始。ニューヨークを拠点に映画、ドラマ、コマーシャル、PVなどの現場で働く。同時に「Ryuichi Sakamoto: CODA」や「ある船頭の話」などの日本映画/日米合作にも携わる。監督と共同撮影監督を兼ねた映画「Memoir」が2014 International Fashion Film Awardsにノミネートされる。また撮影監督を務めた映画「ねことじいちゃん」が、2019年春に日本で劇場公開。共同で撮影監督を行ったNETFLIXオリジナル ドキュメンタリー映画「It Takes A Lunatic」が、2019年トライベッカ映画祭で、正式上映される。2021年夏に撮影を担当した長編映画「シュシュシュの娘」が劇場公開。2023年秋に、撮影した長編映画「almost people」が劇場公開。近年では、撮影したAmazon Original Drama「犯罪者」が2026年夏から配信開始。
また、カメラオペレーターとして 「Ryuichi Sakamoto: Opus」や、Amazon Prime Drama「Modern Love Tokyo 彼を信じていた13日間」、Apple TV「Pachinko Season 2」に参加している。
